In the Bigfoot world, typically when an event gets cancelled it’s due to some unseen behind-the-scenes drama unfolding. As much as it sucks that Minerva Monster Day is being cancelled, I’m glad that we’ve managed to avoid that. The fact is, STM is a production company that is run entirely by myself with help from my wife. This means all promotion, marketing, events, films, etc are managed by us.
In 2018 we are putting out 3 new productions (Flatwoods, Champ, Bray Road) and I’m already filming one project for release in 2019, as well as working on pre-production for two other projects. Add to this, at least a dozen events. When it was originally scheduled 2018 was actually supposed to be a quiet year for us, which has proven to not be the case.
The decision had to be made to drop something and the concern about Minerva was that I wouldn’t have sufficient time to promote the event which would create a problem for our vendors and speakers. It’s not worth our vendors or speakers time to attend an event where they lose money. So, after careful thought, I’ve made the decision to pull the plug on our baby.
This is an event we were very proud to put on and it was one we’ve managed to do for free. The first year saw over 1200 people turn out and the 2016 event had well over that number. Will there be another event in the future? As of now I’d wager against it.
So, again, apologies for the quick cancellation but it’s being done for the right reasons. Thanks for your interest and for your support.
