Venture into the hills of “Bloody Harlan” in Southeast Kentucky this Spring as Cryptid Researchers throughout the region – as well as people who have fascinating eye-witness accounts – share their stories about their search for one of the nation’s most famous legends – Sasquatch. Several sightings and evdience findings have been reported throughout the country, and Harlan County is no exception. Researchers, who have committed thousands of hours studying Sasquatch and other Cryptids, will be presenting all-day lectures about their studies, field work, and encounters. There will also be lectures on other elusive animals such as panthers, and talks about hidden history in the Appalachian Mountains. As the lectures are presented throughout the day, event-goers will also be able to enjoy visiting booths of local mountain artisans, visit wildlife education tables, and take part in a few interactive booths that will be set up to promote wildlife education and appreciation. Food will be on sale, there will be traditional Appalachian baked goods for sale, too. Lecturers will have their promos and merchandise tables set up all day where you can meet them, get to know them better, and hear more about their experiences chasing Bigfoot. The purpose of this event – which is hoped to become an annual event in Harlan Conty – is to promote wildlife education, to encourage outdoor recreation, and to tantilize curiosities about the “What If’s” and the More Mysterious things that have been seen and heard in the shadows of these deep, dark hills. The first-ever Harlan County Crypto Con 2018 will take place at the Harlan County Extension Depot on River Street from 10 am until 7 pm. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day.
